Alliance Theatre
Where Stories Take Center Stage
Dynamic performances, immersive experiences, and custom stories are brought to life by artists of all abilities designed to captivate every audience.
On stage, boundaries fade as neurodiverse and neurotypical artists create bonds that flourish within the shared experience of theatre and continue outside in the regular world.
About Alliance Theatre
Through our productions and educational initiatives, Alliance Theatre aims to spread joy and raise awareness about the importance of inclusion for neurodivergent actors in mainstream theater.
By offering a platform for underrepresented artists, we help challenge societal norms and expose audiences to the vast talents beyond the neurotypical experience.
Additionally, our educational branch, Better Together Productions, provides acting classes for neurodivergent aspiring actors, offering them the skills and confidence to not only pursue careers in film, television, and theater but helps them learn social skills through play that will be tools they can use in social settings outside of theatre.
A Nonprofit with Purpose
Alliance Theatre is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making the performing arts accessible to everyone. Every ticket purchased, every class attended, and every donation we receive goes directly back into our mission of creating a stage where all stories take center stage. While our current contributions help us cover essential expenses such as monthly storage fees, the demand for our programs continues to grow.
To ensure cost is never a barrier, we provide scholarships for acting classes on a first-come, first-served basis to students with financial need. These opportunities allow young performers to gain confidence, build skills, and experience the joy of theatre who might not otherwise have the chance.
Much of what we’ve accomplished has been possible thanks to the generosity of our Artistic Director, Adrienne Shearer, who donates her time and talent. Her leadership, creativity, and dedication have been instrumental in shaping our productions and educational offerings.
Your support makes all of this possible—and every contribution, no matter the size, directly fuels our ability to bring meaningful, inclusive theatre to the community.
Community Impact
Based in Houston, our work reaches families, schools, and community partners who share our belief that theater can be a bridge across differences. We are proud to be part of a growing movement that celebrates creativity, diversity, and accessibility in the performing arts.

Our Values
At Alliance Theatre, we are dedicated to making theater more accessible, diverse, and vibrant. We believe that every voice matters, every story deserves to be heard, and every artist should feel welcome on stage.
The stories are original or adaptations of literary classics and showcase the talents of each actor.

Better Together Productions
At Alliance Theatre, we believe every voice deserves to be heard and every talent deserves to shine. Better Together Productions is the educational branch of Alliance Theatre—a tuition-based program that provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where young actors of all abilities can learn, grow, and perform. Our classes focus on building confidence, communication, and collaboration through the art of theatre, helping students discover their unique voices and develop lifelong skills both on and off the stage.
Join us for our next Better Together Productions acting class—rehearsals begin Tuesday, October 14, and meet every Tuesday evening from 7–9 PM at Garza Studios. Tuition is $375. Together, we’ll build a joyful, confidence-boosting ensemble and prepare a festive Christmas Christian musical to share with our community. The final performance is a free Christmas matinee on Sunday, December 21 at 1 PM at United Memorial Methodist Church—bring your family and friends for a warm, fun afternoon filled with music, story, and holiday spirit!
“From choreography to lighting, every detail was amazing.”
Behind the Scenes
Adrienne Shearer
Founder, Artistic Director & Producer
Adrienne Shearer is the founder and creative force behind Alliance Theatre and its educational branch, Better Together Productions. Since 2019, she has written, directed, and produced original works featuring a neurodiverse ensemble of resident actors, creating inclusive performances that foster connection and understanding.
A passionate advocate for accessibility in the arts, Adrienne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and is pursuing her MFA in Directing and Choreography at Wilson College. Her teaching career includes work with Theatre Under the Stars, Main Street Theater, and The A.D. Players, where she developed adaptive methods to empower performers of all abilities. Through Better Together Productions, she has brought to life acclaimed original works such as Mad Tea Party and Out of the Depths, giving voice to neurodiverse artists and reshaping how Houston audiences experience theatre.
Every performance is brought to life by a team of passionate artists, designers, teachers, parents, and volunteers who share a belief that theatre can change lives. From costume design to stage management to front-of-house support, every role matters. We are endlessly grateful for the creative minds and generous hearts who help us make magic behind the curtain.
We Believe Every Voice Belongs
Our vision is to expand our reach beyond the theatre —bringing our original, thought-provoking productions to schools, community centers, and churches throughout the city. These performances will encourage understanding and acceptance of neurodivergent individuals while celebrating the beauty of human diversity. When children see actors who look, think, or communicate like they do, they realize that they belong and that their dreams are possible.
Your support makes this possible. Whether you choose to volunteer, spread the word, or make a donation, you become part of a movement that celebrates inclusion, creativity, and the limitless potential of every individual. Together, we can build a stage where everyone’s story takes center stage.
